MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — It has become a tradition for WEPM/WCST The Panhandle News Network to broadcast live on Memorial Day for its Panhandle Sports Live and Panhandle Live local shows.

This year was no exception as Luke and Parker talked about local and national sports during their show.

During Panhandle Live, Luke and Marsha talked to area veterans, including Vietnam War veteran Norman Marriott and Army veteran Libby Riley as well as Post Commander Chuck Longley from the American Legion Berkeley Post 14 ahead of their annual Memorial Day commemoration event.

Monday was also the annual free breakfast event Pancakes for Polio and among the guests were, from the Martinsburg Rotary, Denise Hess and Eric Stenger.

17 Rotary Interact members served Monday, as well.  Three were from Faith Christian Academy and sat down for a visit on the broadcast.  They were Ashlyn Randel, Madison Altier, and Audrey Stancil.

Finally, long-time Parks and Rec board member Buzz Poland joined the broadcast and reflected on the history of War Memorial Park, which began just after World War II as a living memorial to honor fallen servicemembers.

We’d like to thank all those who participated in this year’s broadcast as we continued our nearly 80-year tradition of being Part of the Panhandle’s Story.
