BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — The Town of Bath has officially received a state trademark as “America’s First Spa Town”

The Town of Bath, —home to Berkeley Springs received the designation, according Mayor Greg Schene.

The mayor says the recognition affirms Bath’s historic legacy as a premier destination for wellness, relaxation, and natural mineral springs dating back to 1776.

The trademark, granted by the State of West Virginia, strengthens Bath’s identity as a unique tourism destination and supports ongoing efforts to promote heritage travel, economic development, and year-round visitation.

This designation reinforces what visitors have known for generations, Schene says. “Bath is a special place. We are proud to carry this identity forward as we continue to grow our tourism economy and celebrate our rich history.”
